Sunday ASCS Patriot Event at Humberstone Cancelled

Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla. (September 11, 2008)- With a poor weather forecast and the inability to guarantee that there would be no conflicts, the decision has been made by Humberstone Speedway to forego running the ASCS Patriot Makeup this weekend.

Originally scheduled for August 24, the rained out Patriot show was thought to be a good fit as part of the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals Weekend, running Friday and Saturday just down the road at Ohsweken. It has now become apparent that the weather is likely to affect this plan.

If it became necessary for Ohsweken to exercise their Sunday rain date, the 1:00 p.m. start time would make running at Humberstone that night a virtual impossibility for all parties involved. With that in mind, an advanced announcement was vital for teams, fans and officials.

A new date to round out the sprint car season at Humberstone is currently under review and will be announced in the days to come. The remainder of the card planned at Humberstone is still on.

All events are still on as scheduled for the Arrow Express Canadian Sprint Car Nationals. Friday night is a non-points event for the ASCS Patriots with Saturday’s portion paying 60 show up points to each ASCS Patriot team.
