Bryan Howland Looks for “Triple Crown” During Super DIRT Week XXXVII

Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla. (October 6, 2008)- In most instances, if things go well for Bryan Howland Friday at Cayuga County, they would need to rent a moving van to get all of his hardware home. Luckily for him, he could practically walk back home to Auburn if things go right in front of the hometown crowd.

Howland, 21, of Auburn, NY, has a very real possibility at capturing the “Triple Crown of the ASCS Patriots” this Friday Night at the season finale at Cayuga County Fair Speedway in front of a slew of friends and family. Such a feat would include the overall championship, the King of CNY and the hard charger of the season. If he could accomplish all of those tasks, it would mark the second year in a row where a driver winning his second title captured a sweep of the ASCS Patriots’ most coveted titles.

Last season, Chuck Hebing was sure of the overall championship heading into the final night, but the other two portions were in serious doubt. As it would turn out, he would have all three pieces of the puzzle. Howland is hoping this year it is his turn.

Bryan only needs to start the A-Main Friday to lock up his second ASCS Patriot Championship. This will be easier said than done though as the prospects of potentially the toughest field is being assembled for a full point Patriot race ever.

The second task will be to lock up the A-Verdi Storage Containers King of CNY Series Crown. If he makes the feature, Howland will need to finish within 14 spots of defending King of CNY Chuck Hebing to lock up this point battle.

The final challenge, the Bear Paw Hard Charger of the Season will undoubtedly be the toughest as he currently trails Scott Kreutter by a single point. This title will be decided partly on luck as his starting positions throughout the night will maximize or limit his ability to score hard charger points. Howland has shown time and time again at CCFS that he can move his car forward, and will need to do it again Friday to get the Triple Crown.

The fourth winningest driver in ASCS Patriot History, Howland has a pair of wins this season, coming in succession back in July at Ohsweken and Brewerton. His most recent run was also solid, as he finished in third at the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals Finale.
