Riverside Bar and Grill King of the St. Lawrence Series Concludes Saturday at Brockville

Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla. (October 13, 2009)- The Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Championship Points may have been settled for six weeks, but the final leg of the Five Crown Tour is still up for grabs heading in to the final sprint race in the northeast this year.

The Riverside Bar and Grill King of the St. Lawrence Series will run its fourth and final race of 2009 with a third trip to the Brockville Ontario Speedway. While this is an “open” event, it still has major implications leading in to the Patriot Banquet.

“The Battle at the Border” will feature stars and cars of the Lucas Oil ASCS Patriots and the Southern Ontario Sprints, as well as many others from around the area. The race will pay at least $2,000-to-win with Brockville Owner Paul Kirkland opening up the possibility for an even larger payday
This is the third time “The BOS” will host a mid-October sprint show. In 2005, Bryan Howland captured his first of three Patriot Championships while Kyle Drum went to Victory Lane. Last season concluded with local favorite Rick Wilson surging to a popular win in front of a huddled mass.

Alain Bergeron won the most recent event at Brockville and takes a 14 point lead into this Saturday’s event, which will have heat races get underway at 2:00 p.m. The St. Pie, QBC driver only needs to finish sixth or better to capture the final crown available this year.

Howland is in second in the St. Lawrence standings, with Jared Zimbardi in third. At the end of the 25-lap feature, it will likely be one of those three drivers adorning the crown. When the dust settles, the top-10 in the standings will be take a slice of the point fund.

The rules for this event will follow all of those utilized by the ASCS Patriots, including flat or dished top wings, wicker bills and no cockpit adjustables permitted other than a top wing slider. The only rule that will differ is that only the right rear will be mandated and must conform to ASCS, SOS, ESS, URC or Ohsweken rules. The other three tires will be open.

Gates will swing open at the high-banked ¼-mile Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The drivers meeting will be conducted at Noon. More information can be found at www.ASCSpatriotSprints.com or www.BrockvilleSpeedway.com.
